Personal dates: Founded in 1934 by Malcolm Wheeler-Nicholson (1890-1968) as National Allied Publications, but the name changed in 1937 to Detective Comics (later shortened to DC). Stopped in 2011.

MAIN STORY

The series premiered in 1962*. Stopped in 1971 after 56 issues, but has been revived several times since.

The title character is a superhero with the identity of Arthur Curry. He is nicknamed King of The Seven Seas, and his life is divided between living on dry land and under water. Furthermore, Aquaman is rather special for a superhero as he gets married during the series. Also, he is a member of Justice League.
