The series premiered in 1995. Stopped in 1998 after 47 issues, but continued as Azrael Agent of the Bat from 1998 to 2003 (54 issues).

Initially, Azrael (biblical term for an angel of death) is a group of superheroes who serves as assassins. One of them, Jean-Paul Valley, is a computer science student in Gotham City (Batman's base), who breaks out from the brotherhood and fights the good fights - often alongside Batman - against the villains.
