The series premiered in 1979.

The series takes place in an anthropomorphic universe, in which Canardo, a scruffy duck character (Canard is French for Duck), has a career as a private investigator. He is not the (stereo)typical, hardboiled gumshoe at his job, he is often hurled in over his head, he smokes and drinks a lot, and he is sometimes seemingly killed on his missions!
