MAIN STORY
The series premiered in 1945*. Stopped in 1961 after 118 issues.

The starring character is a heavyweight boxing champion, who is portrayed as an upright sports hero and a decent moral character. In his adventures he is often accompanied by a mute kid named Max and a blacksmith named Humphrey Pennyworth. They later received their own series titled Little Max and Humphrey Comics.

* Initially, the character was created in 1921 and premiered as a newspaper strip in 1930.
