: DC (Detective Comics) was started by Malcolm Wheeler-Nicholson in 1934 as a merger between three companies. Later Maxwell 'Max' Charles Gaines became the better known and more influential main editor.

 

 

MAIN STORY
The series premiered in 1940.

DC's flagships were superheroes with their own comic books such as Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, and several more. Justice Society was a collection primarily consisting of superheroes without their own comic books, and the members of the society (with the motto 'For America and Democracy') changed through time.
