The series premiered in
1950. Stopped in 1962 after 58 issues.
The title character is a collie of
the female gender. She is owned by the son Timmy
in a farmer's family, from where numerous
exciting adventures originate. Lassie is a very
intelligent and brave dog that often rescues both
people and animals from dire straits.
The series is a spinoff from a TV
series that ran from 1954 to 1974.
