The series consists of story characters from short animated cartoons such as Bugs Bunny, Elmer Fudd, Petunia Pig, Porky Pig, Sniffles, and Tweety and Sylvester.

The full title of the series is Looney Tunes Merrie Melodies Comics.

* The series continued in several steps as Looney Tunes Merrie Melodies (1950-1954, 41 issues), Looney Tunes Merrie Melodies Comics (1954-1955, 12 issues), and Looney Tunes (1955-1962, 82 issues).
