The series premiered in 1944. Stopped in 1949 after 27 issues.

The series contains multiple independent funny animal stories featuring a number of recurring characters. Examples are Marmaduke Monk, Nutty Squirrel, Pat and Mike, Pete the Deke, Professor Penguin, and Tuffy Bear.

The term Monkeyshine is slang for a prank or a playful trick.
