| The
series premiered in 1958. Stopped in 1962 after just 5
albums because the duo wished to concentrate on Asterix. The stories are set in the 18th century's America when French colonialists were settling down. The character of Oumpah-Pah is a good-natured native Indian warrior who befriends a somewhat timid officer from the nearby French fort. They often join forces against both British colonialists and Indian renegate tribes. The series' full title is Oumpah-Pah le Peau-Rouge. |
