Name: Marten Toonder.
Personal dates: Born 1912 in Holland. Died 2005 in Ireland.
Other creations: Tom Poes.
Successors: During his lifetime Toonder turned over much of his activities to his own Toonder Studios who carried on with his creations.
Comments: Toonder has been named the Dutch Disney because of his many funny animal characters.

MAIN STORY

The series premiered in 1946.

The unique universe is filled with funny animals that all - good and bad alike - look quite cuddly. Panda himself (clearly inspired from Mickey Mouse) mostly just walks around in the plots that unfold before him.
His arch enemy Goedbloed (clearly inspired by the fox in Disney's feature film Pinocchio) is a sly and shady character who always manages to get the gullible Panda into deep water.

The title character must not be confused with the title character in Peter Panda.
