The series premiered in 1965*. Stopped in 1970 after 63 continuous issues, but was continued until 1992 featuring 12 yearly issues numbered from 1 to 12.

Pellefant is a small blue toy elephant with an enormous ego. He tends to act before he thinks, which often brings him into trouble, but still he is convinced of his own infallibility. Other recurring characters are the mouse Pip, the wizard Filur, and the troll Lakritstrollet.
