The title character is a wild African ostrich, who is caught and at first winds up in the Danish capital's zoo only to go on numerous adventures around the globe.

* Initially, the series consisted of two children's books, but eventually it ran for years in Danish newspapers as a comic strip titled Strudsen Rasmus as well as in Alle Børns Blad.
