The strip is unusual in that it has no main characters! O'Neal wished to maintain total freedom to use any type of character he dreamed up. Furthermore, the settings and locations change constantly, although there is a tendency to dwell on scenes from Medieval Europe and the Old American West. All the strips are divided into 4 equally large panels, and the character du jour is conversing with himself or just one additional character.
