Name: Egmont Group (worldwide comics corporation).
Personal dates: Founded in Denmark in 1878 by Egmont Harald Petersen (1860-1914) and has since then changed name several times (the most well known older name is probably Gutenberghus). Ongoing.

Comments: The corporation has always focussed on childrens' literature. It has branches all over the world, but the pages in this site are all examples from the Danish main branch.

MAIN STORY

The series premiered in 2003. Stopped in 2010 after 92 issues, but continued without comic book stories.

This children's magazine's dominating anthropomorphic main character, SpongeBob SquarePants, is portrayed as a cheerful and energetic sea sponge, who lives under the sea with countless friends and other characters, and we follow his daily life. A few of the most often occurring characters are the starfish Patrick Star, the octopus Squidward Tentacles, the crab Eugene H. Krabs, and the squirrel Sandy Cheeks (who lives in an underwater tree dome).

The series (that is named SpongeBob Schwammkopf in German) is based on an American children's TV show titled SpongeBob SquarePants that aired from 1999 to 2012 (189 episodes).
