MAIN STORY

The series premiered in 1972*. Stopped in 1974 after 10 issues, but has been continued in numerous series since then.

The title character in this superhero series is Kara Zor-el, who is a cousin to Superman. They both escaped from their native planet Krypton just before it exploded, and Superman later took it upon himself to train his cousin as a superhero. In later editions Supergirl's secret identity has varied, as her real name has changed to Linda Danvers and Matrix.
