MAIN STORY

The series premiered in 1985*. Stopped in 1996 after 133 issues.

The title character is a humanoid creature consisting of plant matter, who fights to protect his swamp home. Originally, he was a scientist named Alex Olsen, who one day got caught in a laboratory explosion, that altered him physically (in later series the scientist is played by other characters). Swamp Thing possesses superhuman strength, and he can control any form of plant life and even inhabit vegetable matter to use it for his own benefits.
