MAIN STORY

The series premiered in 1951. Stopped in 1958 after 40 issues.

The series stars the roguish title character, portrayed as a heroic Mexican caballero, in the Old West. He is seen as some sort of a Robin Hood type, who is always willing to help the wronged and downtrodden (initially he was a desperado and a cruel outlaw).

The series is a spinoff from numerous films (1914-1994), a radio series (1942-1956), and a TV series (1950-1956).
