Personal dates: Founded in 1943 by Vincent 'Vin' Sullivan (1911-1999). Before he started the company Sullivan was the editor of National Allied Publications (later known as DC Comics). Stopped in 1958.

MAIN STORY
The series premiered in 1949. Stopped in 1955 after 41 issues.

Steve Brand is a typical cowboy travelling on his horse Bullet in the Old West. Whenever he sees injustice he disguises himself in black thus becoming The Durango Kid (and his horse becomes Raider), before he deals with the villains.
The series is built over the actor Charles Starrett (1903-1986), who played the starring role in 64 B-Westerns.

The full title of the series is Charles Starrett as The Durango Kid.
