The series premiered in 1995*. Stopped in 1996 after 17 issues, but has been revived several times since then. The title character is a somewhat neurotic man named Stanley Ipkiss, who one day visits an antique store, where he purchases an old jade mask. When wearing it Ipkiss transforms into a wacky and superpowered person with a green-skinned head and large teeth. He also obtains invulnerability, superhuman strength and speed, as well as impressive agility. * The base concept is from 1982, and in 1994 a film titled The Mask emerged, which in turn triggered the comic book series. |
