The main plot would have been that of an ordinary Cowboys-and-Indians saga, if Ryan had not made a crucial twist for his Old West parody; he portrays his palefaces as silly and inept characters, while his redskins come out as the good but eccentric guys!
The actions proceed in two places: Partly in Grimy Gulch where sheriff Tumbleweeds lives along with a great variety of stereotypical - but mostly bizarre - Western characters; gunslingers, bartenders, oldtimers, and, of course, an undertaker, and partly in the desert where the Poohawks live. Their chief (with no name) desperately try to maintain at least a bit of decorum among the tribe members...
