The series premiered in 1948. Stopped in 1949 after 7 issues*.

This newspaper strip title character is a young and unmarried working woman, who has to support her parents and an adopted brother, and we follow her tireless efforts to keep things together. In this comic book series Winkle is dating engineer Bill Wright, who, in the newspaper strip, engaged in mariage with her. He later went missing during World War 2, and Winkle was left behind pregnant. Her toil was not over.

The initial title of the strip series was Winnie Winkle the Breadwinner until 1943.
